Bangladesh MP Murder: Flesh Found In Septic Tank At Kolkata Apartment Where He Stayed, DNA Test To Confirm Identity
The police stated that without a DNA test, it cannot be confirmed if the flesh is from the Bangladesh lawmaker's body

The Dhaka police have discovered pieces of flesh in the septic tank of a Kolkata apartment where Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar stayed and was likely murdered.

The police stated that without a DNA test, it cannot be confirmed if the flesh is from the Bangladesh lawmaker’s body.

“Some pieces of flesh have been found in the septic tank of Sanjeeva Gardens. It cannot be confirmed without DNA tests if they are from MP Anar’s body,” said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman on Tuesday.

Rahman further noted that he learned about the discovery from the detective branch officials currently investigating the murder case in India, bdnews24.com reported.

Anar, a three-time parliamentarian from the Jhenaidah-4 segment in Bangladesh, arrived in Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment and was staying with a friend until he went missing a few days later. He is believed to have been murdered on May 22. Three people have been arrested in connection with the case.

Security camera footage showed Anar entering a building in Kolkata with two men and a woman, and while his companions were seen leaving, he was not.

According to Kolkata police, circumstantial evidence suggests the MP was first strangled and then dismembered, with his body parts dumped in different locations.

The Chief of the Bangladesh Detective Department is currently in India to investigate the murder of the 56-year-old MP. The Bangladesh police had stated that the mastermind, beneficiary, and those who executed the murder plan are all from their country.

“We inspected the sewage line which is connected with that duplex flat (where he was murdered) with the help of West Bengal CID. We took help from CID West Bengal to break the whole sewage line. We are already interrogating the accused butcher at the CID West Bengal headquarters,” Harun-or-Rashid, the chief of the Bangladesh Detective Department, told the media earlier today.

Harun-or-Rashid had also suggested that the main conspirator, Akhtaruzzaman, may have fled from Kathmandu to the US via Dubai.

“We also got digital evidence and we will also record the statement of the accused butcher. After interrogation, we matched the statement with our accused in Bangladesh. We also got circumstantial evidence and we are matching it,” he added.
