The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) prelims and main exams for 2025. The decision to postpone the exam was taken after the government announced that the recruitment to the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) would be made through both the Civil Services Examinations and the ESE. As per the official notice, the preliminary exam will now be held on June 8, 2025, and the main exam on August 10, 2025.
“Keeping in view of the decision of the Government for inclusion of IRMS in ESE, 2025, the opening of Correction Window from 09.10.2024 (i.e. from next day of last date for receipt of application (08.10.2024)) was put on hold,” reads the official notice by UPSC.
“The Government has decided that the recruitment to the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) will be made both through the Civil Services Examinations (for Traffic, Accounts and Personnel Sub-cadres) and ESE (for Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Signal & Telecommunication and Stores Sub-cadres). The Ministry of Railways has also notified Indian Railway Management Service (Amendment) Rules, 2024 on 9th October 2024,” the notice added.
The commission will also reopen the registration deadline on October 18 and will close it on November 22. Through the registration, not only will new applicants be able to apply but also old applicants will be able to make corrections to their application form. Besides, a correction/edit window of seven days will also be provided from November 23 to 29 to all the applicants during which they will be able to modify/edit their particulars, the notification stated. Through this recruitment drive, the commission aims to fill up a total of 232 posts in the organisation.
UPSC ESE 2025: Steps To Apply
Step 1: Go to the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in.
Step 2: On the homepage, look for and click on the active examination link. Then a list will open up.
Step 3: Following thatclick on the ESE 2025 examination link. A new page will open.
Step 4: Candidates will have toregister themselves first on the portal.
Step 5: Once done, log in to the account and fill out the application form.
Step 6: Make the payment of the examination fee.
Step 7: Cross-check all details and submit the form.
The UPSC ESE 2025 application window was earlier open till October 8, 2024, and the preliminary/stage-I test was scheduled to take place on February 9, 2025.
