‘Super Cool’ Ashish Nehra’s Swag Moment On IPL Auction Day
Nehra also made a genius decision to buy Afghanistan’s all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai at a base price of Rs 50 lakhs at the IPL 2024 auction which led to even more memes.

Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra’s unique blazer-wearing style at the IPL auction 2024 has caught the attention of several viewers. In a fan-uploaded image on X, Nehra can be seen wearing his blazer towards the front of his torso, leaving his back exposed. That post was also accompanied by a hilarious line which read, “Ashish Nehra is super cool…wears his sunglasses behind, jacket in the front and doesn’t give a damn! #IPL2024Auction”. Nehra might not necessarily be a fashion king but his genius mind enabled Gujarat Titans to make Kolkata overpay for Australian pacer Mitchell Starc at the bidding event. Apart from that Nehra also made a genius decision to buy Afghanistan’s all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai at a base price of Rs 50 lakhs at the IPL 2024 auction which led to even more memes.

One fan also reacted to the hilarious blazer situation as he couldn’t seem to understand what was going on, “What is Nehra doing lmao”. A fan replied to that suggesting that the cricketer was using the blazer as a blanket. “I meant that in a quite literal sense – he’s using his blazer as blanket lmao”, he wrote.

“Nehra is wearing his coat like a kambal”, another fan suggested.

A user said, “Ashish Nehra is me in winters/rooms with AC. I will cover myself with anything and everything to stay warm. #Iplauction2024”.

“Ashish Nehra being Ashish Nehra”, said one fan.

One reply seemed to pretty much sum up the bidding war between KKR and GT. He said, “GT: 37.65 Crore left KKR: 32.7 Crore left. Nehra and Gambhir when Overseas/Desi Fast bowlers arrive.”

A bidding war at the IPL 2024 auction between Ashish Nehra and Gautam Gambhir saw KRR on the winning side of securing Mitchell Starc but at a record price tag of Rs. 24.75 crores. This made the Aussie the most expensive player in IPL history. He broke his Australian teammate Pat Cummin’s signing of Rs 20.50 crores to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the same event. Nehra has also helped Gujarat Titans bag some good signings. Having secured Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai, Nehra went after Indian all-rounder Shahrukh Khan, securing the player for a relatively smart price of 7 crores.

Shahrukh was purchased for Rs 9 crores back in 2022 by Punjab Kings. However, Punjab released their player ahead of the auction to free up their purse. At the IPL 2024 auction, they bid on their player once again in hopes of securing Shahrukh at a cheaper cost but lost the battle to Gujarat.
