Infra Upgrade Allows Central Railway to Run 42 Trains at 130 kmph Across Sections
The Central Railway is running trains at a speed of up to 130 kmph on 1,206.73-km stretch across various sections – 95.44 km on the Wardha-Badnera section, 526.65 km on the Igatpuri-Bhusawal-Badnera section, 75.59 km on the Pune-Daund section and 509.05 km on the Itarsi-Nagpur-Wardha-Ballarshah section

Starting Wednesday, Central Zone will run 30 trains at a speed of up to 130 kmph on the 95-km stretch between Wardha and Badnera. Over the past few days, the Central Zone has managed to speed up at least 42 trains across various sections.

In a statement, the zone said that infrastructure upgrades are being carried out on several sections in order to increase the speed of trains. In total, the Central Railway is running trains at a speed of up to 130 kmph on 1,206.73-km stretch across various sections – 95.44 km on the Wardha-Badnera section, 526.65 km on the Igatpuri-Bhusawal-Badnera section, 75.59 km on the Pune-Daund section and 509.05 km on the Itarsi-Nagpur-Wardha-Ballarshah section.

“These include multi-tracking (laying of multiple tracks in a section), overhead equipment regulation, signalling works and other technical works. These works have enabled the CR to run trains on these sections at a speed of up to 130 kmph,” the statement reads.

Among the 30 trains – 15 up and 15 down – that will run at a speed of up to 130 kmph on the Wardha-Badnera section are Mumbai-Howrah and Mumbai-Nagpur Duronto Express trains.

“The speeds of these trains have been increased after ensuring all safety aspects and technical inspections by the officials concerned. This will decrease running time of trains and improve overall punctuality of train movements,” the statement added.

Earlier this month, at least 12 more trains, including Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express, were allowed to run at a speed of 130 kmph on the Igatpuri-Bhusaval section (308.12 km) and Bhusaval-Badnera section (218.53 km).

WORK UNDERWAY ON ADDITIONAL 337-KM STRETCH

In addition to the 1,200-km section, the Central zone is also working to improve speeds of trains on the Daund-Solapur-Kalaburagi-Wadi section, covering a distance of 337.44 km.

“Trains are likely to run at up to 130 kmph on this section,” the zone claimed.

Across India, the fastest functional section where trains can run up to 160 kmph is between Tughlakabad and Agra Cantonment.
