CLAT 2024 Rank 2 Pradhyot Shah Says He Spent 'Countless Hours' Attempting Mock Tests
Initially drawn to CLAT to explore diverse career options, Pradhyot discovered a genuine passion for law and found it to be an equally exciting and fulfilling path

In the world of competitive exams, securing a top rank is no small feat. One such feat was achieved by a native of Bengaluru, Pradhyot Shah who has emerged as the All India Rank 2 in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2024. Sharing how he prepared for the competitive law entrance exam, Pradhyot stated that his CLAT preparation centred around the mantra of practice. “CLAT, in my opinion, doesn’t demand specific knowledge but rather accuracy in solving questions. This year’s exam, especially, reinforced this belief,” he explains.

Pradhyot stressed the importance of analysing each mock test to identify weaknesses and work on them systematically. “I spent countless hours preparing for General Knowledge and attempting mock tests. One has to make sure to try their hardest in each mock they do,” he added. Pradhyot also beat his teacher, Rahul Palakurthy, to secure rank 2 in the exam. The Bengaluru boy secured the second spot due to better performance in the legal section of the exam. His teacher secured rank 3 in the law entrance exam.

Initially drawn to CLAT to explore diverse career options, Pradhyot discovered a genuine passion for law. Despite an initial inclination towards science, he realised that law was an equally exciting and fulfilling path. “I’ve always been passionate about science and a younger me would have thought I would end up choosing a career related to that. But once I did get into the field I realised that this (law) was something I was also deeply interested in and would genuinely enjoy working in this field,” he said. During his preparation, Pradhyot also took coaching from Career Launcher. Both his parents are architects.

Currently enrolled in Mallya Aditi International School, Pradhyot is a class 12 student of PCMC. Academically, Pradhyot is no stranger to excellence. His dedication was also reflected in his impressive score of around 95-96 per cent in his ICSE board examination.

Offering advice to fellow CLAT aspirants, Pradhyot lays emphasis on starting early preparation, attempting mock tests diligently, and remaining calm on D-day. He also advises aspirants to form study groups for General Knowledge, fostering mutual learning and reducing the workload. Pradhyot now plans to join NLS Bangalore and expressed a keen interest in specialising in tech-related aspects of law, possibly in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) or cyber law.
