The Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘The Lady Killer’ has had an unconventional journey from its quiet trailer release to its surprising digital debut. The film, directed by Ajay Bahl, was released in cinemas on November 3 but in a very limited number of screens across the country, making it difficult for many to catch it on the big screen. As a result, fans eagerly awaited its digital release, and that wait has finally ended.
On September 2, ‘The Lady Killer’ began streaming on the YouTube channel of T-Series, and in an unexpected twist, it’s available for free rather than on a rental or pay-per-view basis.
‘The Lady Killer’ tells the gripping story of a chemist who finds himself in deep trouble after getting involved with a mysterious woman. Interestingly, after the film’s theatrical release, director Ajay Bahl disclosed that the thriller hit cinemas despite not being fully completed.
As per trade tracker portal Sacnilk, the film shockingly earned only Rs 38,000 at the box office. The media reports have also revealed that The Lady Killer has become the lowest opener of Bhumi and Arjun’s careers.
Earlier in an interview, Arjun Kapoor talked about his preparation for the film and how it had impacted his emotional and mental well-being. He said, “The Lady Killer is something else. I have given a lot to that film. Mentally and emotionally, the film has been intense and raw for Bhumi and me. It is very real in that sense, as a love story. That’s why I went on vacation after that. I shot for about 45 days for that film and went away on a break. I needed to get out of that space.”
As for the stars of the film, Arjun Kapoor is set to appear next as the antagonist Danger Lanka in ‘Singham Again’, while Bhumi Pednekar will be seen in two exciting web series – ‘Daldal’ and ‘The Royals’.
