To achieve the best fitness and physique, one should always rely on physical exercises. A good workout ensures physical fitness as well as mental well-being. However, many people measure their fitness progress by measuring their weight, which is not an accurate method. Here are the three ways, as told by fitness experts, through which you can gauge your fitness and its growth.

An exercise physiology assistant professor from the University of North Carolina, Lee Stoner, told the New York Times that for an individual’s cardiovascular and metabolic health, it is important to prioritise fitness over “fatness”. So, below are three expert-certified metrics, which can be used to measure your fitness, accurately.

Heart Health

Heart rate is an easy way to measure where your fitness stands. For a healthy adult person, their heart rate stays between 60 to 80 beats per minute. Christopher Lundstorm, a sport and exercise science Lecturer from the University of Minnesota said that a sign of being fit is when your heart rate starts matching your exercise intensity. He added that as your fitness level improves, your heart will adjust and adapt easily and quickly to the changes.

Exercise Goal

You can also determine your physical fitness through performance, strength, power and endurance, according to Dr Lundstorm. Exercise goal simply means how fast are you able to complete an exercise. For that, you just have to rely on your abilities to hit your target or goal. For example, you can perform a plank to increase your abdominal strength and time it. And if you want to improve your total body conditioning, fix a time limit for yourself and count the number of burpees you did within that time limit. As per more information, the plank can be measured on a 1 to 10 scale. An 8 is considered good.

Daily Life Work

Interestingly, your daily routine and work are also a good determiner of your fitness. It means the level of ease you can carry out your daily tasks. It includes simple regular tasks like how fast you can dress up, clean your house, leave for work etc.

What's your reaction?
