An alleged smuggler was on Tuesday held with 1-kg brown sugar from the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar's East Champaran district, official sources said.
Acting on a tip-off, SSB sleuths nabbed one Nawal Kishore Prasad and recovered 1-kg brown sugar, worth Rs 1 crore on the international market, from his possession, an SSB officer said.
Prasad, a native of the district, had brought the consignment from Manipur and intended to deliver the same to clients in Birganj of Nepal, the officer added.
Rs 3000 in cash and a mobile phone was also seized from the smuggler, sources said, adding that Prasad was being interrogated by SSB officials at their border post at Pankota.
