Senior Citizen Arrested for Inappropriately Touching Fellow Passenger on Delhi-Mumbai Flight
The accused, Anilkumar Mulchandani, a businessman, is alleged to have inappropriately touched the 41-year-old complainant after she exchanged her seat for a window seat.

Mumbai: A 65-year-old man who was arrested on Monday for allegedly molesting a female passenger on Delhi-Mumbai Vistara flight was granted bail on Tuesday by a city court.

The accused, Anilkumar Mulchandani, a businessman, is alleged to have inappropriately touched the 41-year-old complainant after she exchanged her seat for a window seat. Despite repeated warnings, the man continued to harass her after which she decided to alert the staff, the complaint said.

“The crew took note of her complaint and changed his seat. He was brought to Sahar police station as soon as the flight landed in Mumbai at around 12 40pm. After preliminary inquiry and investigation, he was arrested under section 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code,” said Lata Shirsat, senior police inspector of Sahar police station.

The man was later granted bail after he was produced before the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate court. The woman complainant is a resident of Singapore and was visiting her family in Mumbai.

Reacting to the incident, a Vistara spokesperson said, “There was an incident involving two customers onboard UK995 operating Delhi-Mumbai on January 7, 2019. We are extending our full support to the authorities in investigating the matter. Ensuring safety, security, and peace of mind of our customers is of paramount importance to us."
