BANGALORE: Expressing apprehension that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government  may not initiate action on the recommendations made by the Karnataka Lokayukta which has indicted former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, AICC General Secretary and senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad demanded for a CBI probe into the issue.Addressing the partymen on the occasion of ‘Congress Nadige, Janara Balige’ in the city, the Congress leader charged that the BJP government may undermine the Lokayukta report on illegal mining and reject it. Claiming that only CBI is capable of bringing the culprits to book, the Congress leader charged that BJP government by not handing over the probe is protecting the perpetrators of the scam. Impartial inquiry need of the hour“Many prominent politicians, especially from the BJP, and top officials are involved in the mining scam and they could be punished only if there is an impartial inquiry. Only CBI can do this,” Hariprasad said.Charging that top Central BJP leaders were among the beneficiaries of the illegal mining in Karnataka, Hariprasad alleged that it was during the regime of B S Yeddyurappa that highest quantity of iron-ore was shipped out from the state.  KPCC President Dr G Parameshwar said that BJP was divided deep and wide and predicted that the government which was formed recently will not last long. He also criticised for the undue delay in the ministry expansion by the new CM.
