Offshore sand reserves a promise

KASARGOD: As geologists have identified millions of tonnes of offshore sand resources in the state, it is now the turn of the government to initiate action to mine the sand which would meet the construction needs of the state in the years to come.
According to geologists, apart from solving the shortage of construction sand, the offshore sand mining would generate skilled and nonskilled jobs and remove the threat on environment owing to the mindless extraction of river sand.The offshore sand can be mined making use of the technology which is now available in most of the European countries as well as the Gulf countries.
