Security forces on Wednesday apprehended a suspected Naxal from the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh during an operation.
Officials said the incident occurred in the Ghumsimund forests of the district early on Wednesday when a patrol squad of forces led by paramilitary CRPF was out for an operation.
"A Naxal commander Phool Singh alias Jairam was apprehended by the forces after a short encounter. An AK
series rifle has been recovered from him," a senior officer said.
The held Naxal is the company commander of Dorka Maoist group operational in the area, the officer said, adding, he has been handed over to local police for interrogation.
