Samabula (Fiji): Not just education, but today's youth need to be tech-savvy to take on the world, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a gathering at the Fiji National University.
The PM promised among other things, double scholarship to Fijian students studying in India. Insisting on the need to become tech-savvy in today's world, the PM also mentioned the Digital India initiative, which he maintained will bridge the digital divide.
The PM addressed the Parliament of Fiji earlier on Wednesday. "India is prepared to be a partner in Fiji's development journey and finding opportunities for the youth of Fiji," he said.
Modi also promised that India will donate five million dollars to develop medium and small scale industries in Fiji.
The PM also touched upon the issue of global warming that is plaguing both India and Fiji. He said that together the two nations need to figure out a way to save the environment and combat global warming.
The PM also promised visa on arrival facility for Fijians coming to India.
