"Respected M D, the Vyttila Mobility Hub must start providing ointments to passengers. For if one is to travel from Vyttila junction to the hub one is sure to get back pain, By Voter,” goes one of the hundreds of complaints put down at the complaint register at the Vyttila Mobility hub.
The register was placed at the hub around four months back. Over time, the register seems to have become a popular outlet to vent both genuine complaints and even for trivial ones.
In the register, half of the complaints are about the dilapidated condition of the entrance road to the hub, as mentioned by ‘the voter’. Many people have criticised the apathetic attitude of the hub authorities in developing the road. The reactions though are varied and sometimes quite creative for that matter. One of the complainants have suggested converting the road into a swimming pool while others have suggested fishing.
The absence of night services from the hub to various places in the state is the second most registered problem. Umma Salim, a passenger, put down a complaint that bus services are scarce after 10 pm. “More KSRTC bus services must begin to Thiruvananthapuram,” says Umma Salim.
Other routes suggested for night service include Kottayam, Pattanamthitta and Guruvayoor and also to the city after 8 pm.
One of the other complaints is about the condition of the telephone booth. “The telephone has not been working since the last two months, and the problem is yet to be rectified by the authorities,” says a complaint on August 30.
Digital screen system and announcement of the bus schedule is another frequent demand. Complaints also include the need for more chairs inside the hub and for shops to provide drinking water at night.
A passenger on September 10, expressed apprehension about the absence of any follow up on the complaints. “Will this VMH become a reality soon. Now it is just a bus stand. We don’t just need a complaint book, but answers for our questions,” wrote Anandan.
Meanwhile, Shafeek P M, the hub manager said that the feedback they receive from the complaint register, and the issues raised in it are being considered. “Entrance road to the hub will be repaired immediately. The complaints regarding more night services will also be considered. Now we have a total of 32 services to the northern and southern parts at night. We will try to increase the services. The digital punching system and other facilities to know the bus schedules too will be launched soon,” he said.
