BHUBANESWAR: The State Government will finalise the handicrafts policy in the next two months. This was decided at a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Secretariat here on Wednesday. There are plans to organise a three-day international handicraft exhibition from October 20 to boost exports.Since tribal jewellery is in huge demand, special steps will be taken to improve its standing in the export market. Training will be imparted to entrepreneurs for development of different handicrafts in the State.A hub will be constructed at Cuttack for its specialised silver filigree. Besides, the Culture Department has also been asked to document different musical instruments of the State. A special gallery will be set up for State’s musical instruments in the museum.Industries Minister Raghunath Mohanty, Development Commissioner RN Senapati and senior officials attended the meeting.
