Gandhi Bhavan to be Botchas secretariat?

HYDERABAD: PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana does not waste time. Ever since he assumed the mantle on Saturday, he has gone about his business with gusto. He was with everybody and everywhere at the Gandhi Bhavan, the party headquarters, here on Monday.He offered a few tips to party spokespersons, N Padmaja Reddy, B Kamalakara Rao and Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, on how best to put the TDP on the mat. Shaking hands with one after the other, he was seen engaged in animated conversations for three hours.Later, he headed straight to the Secretariat where he had an equally busy afternoon meeting up with officials and ministers. Party sources told Express that Botcha had already set the ball rolling to transform Gandhi Bhavan into a “second Secretariat” complete with facilities for tele and video-conferencing so that he could chat with not only DCC presidents and other office-bearers but also MLAs and ministers.“He is keen on modernising Gandhi Bhavan. He is discussing plans with party leaders and is quite receptive to imaginative ideas,” one of his aides said. Among the proposals under his consideration is a library too. A Gandhi Bhavan source said, “Our president wants a new look for Gandhi Bhavan. That is for sure.” Botcha is also said to be particular about infusing young blood into the party. Nowadays, he is seen more in the company of the young than old.  It has only been a few days since he got the top job, but he has dropped enough indications that he wants to keep the lines of communication between the party and the government busy. “I will take up the cotton seeds’ issue with the cabinet sub-committee and speed up measures to ease scarcity,” he told reporters. He also made it clear that he wants to have a coordination committee soon to act as a bridge between the party and the government. It would mean more power than what a PCC chief usually enjoys, but in a subtle manner.
