Students and police clashed in front of the Osmania University (OU) police station at Tarnaka here on Tuesday morning after the police barred balladeer Gaddar from entering the campus.
Gaddar had come to the university campus to extend his support to the students protest, in front of the Arts college, against the cases booked on students during Telanagana agitation.
After failing to enter the campus, he went to seek permission from the home minister, and returned in the evening after attaining it.
He addressed the protesting students, more than 350 in number, about the oncoming Telanagana agitation which will begin from September 27.
He assured them that he will walk with them to the secretariat that day.
Earlier, police personnel had barricaded the entrances of the university from both sides and RPF personnel were deployed to restrict outsiders from coming in.
More than 350 students were present at the dharna in front of the Arts college.
When they learnt that the police refused to let Gaddar it, many of them marched to the police station to bring in the revolutionary balladeer, but were stopped by the police near the police station.
