BANGALORE: A nine-year-old boy accidentally drowned in Puttenahalli Lake in J P Nagar on Monday evening. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Vivek, a class 3 student at Oxford School. His younger brother Tanush, 4, was rescued by a man who was passing through the area.He also studies in the same school in LKG. His condition is said to be critical.The incident occurred when both were playing near the lake at around 4.30 pm, it is said. Tanush accidentally fell into the lake. His brother, Vivek, in a bid to rescue him, offered help. In the process, he fell into the lake and was caught in the silt. The incident occurred when their parents were at home which is situated near the lake. A man who noticed Tanush crying for help, got into the lake and took him out safely. He was immediately shifted to a private hospital. The boys’ father, Venkatesh who runs a security agency, came to know about the incident through neighbours. Venkatesh was searching for his sons. Unfortunately, the lake is not fenced and the victim’s family is residing near the lake. J P Nagar Police have registered a case and investigations are on.
