Bengaluru police on Thursday have arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly raping and murdering a woman. The victim is a native of Raichur and has been living in the city for the past year with her three children, while the accused, Karan belonged to Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur.
The woman on Tuesday stepped out from her house to visit a liquor shop reported Indian Express, adding that the naked body of the victim was found at an under-construction building site near Coffee Board in Amrithalli on Wednesday.
The post-mortem of the body confirmed that the woman was raped before her murder. After checking the CCTV, police apprehended the accused as he visited the same liquor shop and since then was following the woman. During the investigation, Karan accepted his crime, according to the report.
In another unrelated case from Rajasthan’s Jaipur, police have booked a magistrate in Karauli district for allegedly asking a Dalit rape victim to strip to show her injuries, an officer on Wednesday said. Deputy SP (ST-SC) cell Mina Meena said that the victim had filed a complaint on March 30 alleging that the Hindaun court magistrate asked her to strip in order to see her injuries.
“She refused to strip and after recording the statement in the court on March 30, she registered a complaint against the magistrate. The case was registered with Kotwali Police Station under charges of outraging modesty,” Meena said. The magistrate has been booked under section 345 (wrongful confinement) of the IPC and SC/ST (prevention of atrocities) Act.
According to police, the woman was allegedly raped on March 19 and an FIR in the matter was registered on March 27 at Hindaun Sadar Police Station.
