Shillong Lajong roped in the services of Stanley Rosario as head coach.

New Delhi: On the day when Chelsea and Real Madrid’s appointment of Carlo Ancelotti and Manuel Pellegrini grabbled all the headlines, Shillong Lajong roped in the services of Stanley Rosario as the new head coach.

Rosario’s previous two stints in the last 10 months or so haven’t been rewarded as on both occasions, he was unceremoniously chucked out. He was sacked by East Bengal following the Federation Cup while, Salgaocar refused to renew his contract after he guided them to I-League second division victory.

Speaking to Goal.com, Lajong’s owner Larsing M Sawyn said, “We have decided to have Stanley Rosario as our new head coach as we felt that in the I-League, we needed someone who has the experience.”

Meanwhile, Herring Shangpliang shall now act as the technical director of the team after ensuring a place for the north-eastern club in the I-League. “This season, we are very serious about youth development in the north eastern region. Herring shall be our technical director overseeing those projects,” added Larsing.

The former Indian assistant coach was overjoyed and buoyed with the new challenge he has on his hands.

“There is talent and quality in north eastern region which makes this project very exciting. I shall visit Chennai to see some boys participating in the Santosh Trophy. I have a meeting with the club and the players later on Tuesday wherein we shall discuss a few things,” said Rosario.

Also, Oil India’s Subrata Bhattacharya has been appointed as the new head coach of Vasco SC.
