India will be facing Bangladesh in the U-19 World Cup opener as they eye a sixth crown. They have dominated the U-19 World Cup tournament, winning the competition five times. Before the start of their campaign, India faced Australia in a warm-up game in South Africa. The match saw India score 171 runs in the opening half. It was their captain Uday Saharan who scored the most runs for his side at 74. A four-wicket haul from Charlie Anderson was able to keep the Indian batters under control.
In the second half, India went on an absolute rampage, dismissing four Australian batters for a total of 53 runs. this brilliant bowling performance was interrupted by rainfall and the match ultimately turned out to be a no-result content. India will now be looking to pick up where they left off by securing a win in the tournament early and booking their place in the Super Six stage.
India and Bangladesh will clash at the U-19 World Cup opener on January 20. Bangladesh recently won the ACC U-19 Asia Cup and have proven to be one of the best squads in the world in recent years. They will also be aiming to win the 2024 edition of the tournament as they hope to take down India in their opening game.
