New Delhi: Following a southward trend, the BSE benchmark index, Sensex, fell by more than 157 points in early trade on Thursday.
The 30-share sensitive index, Sensex, fell by 157.86 points at 13,182.35 in the first five minutes of trade. The National Stock Exchange, Nifty, fell by 46.75 points at 3,768.80.
The Sensex, which had lost nearly 391 points in the last two sessions, continued to dip owing to sustained selling by funds and retail investors.
The major losers were HDFC Ltd, Grasim, Infosys, ITC Ltd, ICICI Bank, ONGC, State Bank of India, ACC, Maruti Udyog, Reliance Energy and Tata Consultancy Services.
