Vistara Passenger Angry Over Non-Veg Meal Policy For Short Route; Airline Responds
Vistara's customer service team responded to the post through their official X account.

A passenger on a Vistara flight has voiced dissatisfaction over the lack of non-vegetarian meal options. The traveler questioned the rationale for the policy in a post on X (Formerly Twitter), and joked that it would be interesting to know if the airline intended to install a tandoor on longer flights. He further cited a stewardess as saying, “We don’t serve non-veg because this is a short flight.” He also called out Vistara, saying they ought to call themselves ‘a half-service airline’.

“I don’t get the connection between duration & non-veg. Were they planning to fire up a tandoor on the plane if it was a long flight? Vistara should call themselves a half-service airline!!,” the post on X reads.

The post was shared on March 5 and so far, it has collected more than 226,000 views and several comments. As the post went viral and social media users started pouring in their opinions and experiences, Vistara’s customer service team responded to the now-viral post via their official X account in three separate threads.

In the first thread, the airline stated that they were “concerned to note this and would like to investigate further.”

The second thread stated, “Hi Soumitra, we appreciate your preferences and choices regarding in-flight meals. While we are constantly working to improve our services, please keep in mind that the aforementioned flight was brief, with a slightly shorter flying time. We currently serve vegetarian meals in your booked cabin as a standard procedure.”

“Our services are designed to ensure that all customers are served and that the crew completes all necessary procedures within the timeframe specified. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing you with a delightful experience soon. Thank you, Aishwarya,” replied Vistara.

In response to the post, a large number of users on X shared jokes, memes, or comparable experiences.

On the other hand, according to consolidated reports, Vistara flight operations were hampered at Delhi and Mumbai airports, owing primarily to a lack of pilot availability. On March 6, some flights were cancelled, while others were delayed at the two airports, according to officials.

There was no response from Vistara, and it was not possible to immediately ascertain specific details. With a fleet of 67 aircraft, the full-service carrier flies over 300 routes every day. According to the sources, the schedule was impacted when some pilots reported sick.
