As the festive spirit of Navratri sweeps India, the celebration of this colourful festival in Karachi, Pakistan has also captured the hearts of social media users. A viral video, shared by Pakistani influencer Dheeraj Mandhan, shows a lively street adorned with festive lights and a stunning image of Goddess Durga. Women and children can be seen joyfully engaging in traditional garba and dandiya dances. “Navratri Day 4 in Karachi Pakistan. What if I tell you there is an area where you can find a mandir, masjid, gurudwara and church within walking distance and where people believe in peace and harmony,” Mandhan wrote in his caption.

“This area is also named mini India by a lot of people but I would call this our Pakistan,” he added. Mandhan further shared that this was his first encounter with “this magical, mesmerising, and the excitement of Navratri.” “Everyone was happy; everyone was smiling, dancing and enjoying the excitement of the festival,” he noted in his post.

Many viewers praised the beautiful display of cultural unity. One Instagram user expressed, “Feels so good to see them celebrating festivals like this.” Another added, “Wow.. felt so good after seeing this. Keep spreading positivity and love with real content.” A person commented, “Shubh Navratri to Pakistan’s Hindu community,” to which Mandhan responded, “Happy Navratri.”

Apart from Pakistan, multiple videos showing the first-ever Durga Puja festival held at the iconic Times Square in New York City have been circulating on social media. As Durga Puja made its spectacular debut at Times Square, a large number of Indians as well as Americans came together to partake in the festivities.

This year, the nine-day festivities of Navratri started on October 3 and will culminate on October 12 with Dussehra.
