A woman named Maxine Cole and her five sisters from Missouri lived a normal, sedentary lifestyle and had a wonderful relationship. And now they’ve suddenly become a group of siblings with the oldest combined age in the world, according to Guinness World Records officials. The Cole sisters’ combined age is over 550 years old, according to Guinness.
Cole and the siblings have been on “brilliant” terms for decades, she says. Born into the Overall family in Farmington, they consist of the oldest, Norma Jacob, 101, followed by Lorene Kollmeyer, 98, and Maxine Cole, 97. They are followed by Doris Griffith, Margaret Norton and Elma Jennings, who are 94, 90 and 88, respectively. Add up their ages and you get a whopping 571 years (and counting). According to ABC, this is now an official Guinness World Record.
To verify all the information about the siblings’ ages, they had to submit over 100 documents, including birth certificates, school reports, marriage certificates, and photographs, which helped to verify all the information needed for the world record.
At the time of verification, the sisters’ combined age was 570 years and 40 days. It has now increased to 571 years. The idea to apply for this record came somewhat out of the blue when Maxine Cole’s nephew, Jacob, approached them and told them that they could bag this world record. The sisters lived through the Great Depression together, as they were born during that time, and they have also experienced and celebrated many milestones together, with this one being a new one.
Norma Jacob, 101 years old, is the oldest Cole sister in the family. Of the other five sisters, none have crossed the 100-year mark, but several of them are well into their 90s. The Cole sisters from Missouri hold the record for the highest combined age of the six siblings. Together they have a total age of 571 years and counting.
