In Bihar's Jamui, Villagers Turn Road Into A Paddy Field
The villagers claimed that the road in the Phulwria area Barhat block of Jamui broke down just 9 months after its construction.

In a recent update, a video has gone viral showcasing a unique way of protest which garnered a lot of attention from the public on social media. This protest was conducted by the locals of the Phulwria area Barhat block of Jamui district. It can be grasped from the video that some farmers are cultivating crops but actually, the case is otherwise.

The villagers of that area claimed that a 3-kilometre road was constructed with an amount of Rs 96 lakh in the Barhat block area of Jamui, under the Bihar Rural Road scheme. However, with time, the condition of the road got worse. To overcome the situation, the locals adopted a unique way of protest.

In the area, the main road, leading to Phulwaria village had broken down, filled with mud all over, leading to the formation of big pit-holes. During the rainy season, the condition of the road gets worse, as it not only becomes difficult for people to walk but also becomes difficult for public transportation. Even, many times, large trucks or heavy vehicles get stranded and two-wheelers encounter accidents.

Two locals of the area, Anjan Kumar and Vinod Kumar Chandravashi reported to Local18 that the road has converted into a mud pit which is no less than a field. Just as farmers prepare fields for paddy cultivation, the road looks no less than that, ready for cultivation. On Sunday morning, the villagers came on the road with paddy saplings and started planting those on the main road itself, turning the entire road into a field.

The villagers claimed that the road broke down just 9 months after its construction. Lately, due to heavy rains, the condition of the road has deteriorated making it difficult for people to walk. Although the villagers informed the administration and officials many times about the dilapidated condition of the road, no steps were taken. Therefore, they adopted this extraordinary method of cultivating paddy on the main road itself, with the hope that the authorities take this issue seriously and repair the roads.
