A hint for identifying this actress is that she played the role of a child artist in the film Mangala Nayaki, directed by R Krishnan and S Panju. For those who still couldn’t identify this actress, she is none other than Shobana. She is one of the most prominent actresses and dancers in the South film industry.
Shobana is also the niece of the famous trio – Lalitha, Padmini, and Ragini – who were renowned classical dancers and actresses as well. Shobana’s film Mangala Nayaki had completed 44 years of release on March 22. In the photo that went viral on social media, Shobana is seen sharing the screen with KR Vijaya.
Mangala Nayaki marked Shobana’s debut in the films at the age of 10. This film is a Tamil adaptation of the Hindi film Saajan Bina Suhagan directed by Saawan Kumar Tak. Nutan, Vinod Mehra, TP Jain, and others also acted in this film.
Shobana has left an indelible mark on audiences with her versatile performances in the films Thira, Kokila, and Manichithrathazhu. The veteran actress has numerous accomplishments to her acting credit in her cinematic journey which includes the National Film Award under the best actress category for Mitr: My Friend. She also won this award under the same category for the film Manichithrathazhu. She is also the recipient of the Vanitha Film Awards, South Indian International Movie Awards, and Kerala State Film Awards. The Manichithrathazhu actress has acted with nearly every acting stalwart including Rajinikanth, Mammootty, Mohanlal, and others.
Shobana is unmarried and became a single-parent mother to a girl child named Anantha Narayani Chandrakumar in 2011 through adoption. The baby adoption ceremony was celebrated with much fanfare in Kerala.
