Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly got off to a rough start again on Tuesday with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanding reservation for Jats in the state. The Centre on Sunday had cleared reservation for Jats in government jobs, a move slammed by the opposition as "political expediency".

Meanwhile, the PDP also took to slogan shouting in the House over the arrest of a few youths in Lalpora area last week following the Kupwara encounter. The youths had resorted to stone pelting at the police.

On Monday, the Assembly erupted in protests after former CM Farooq Abdullah called Kashmiris "thieves".
