Nagarjuna’s Defamation Case Against Konda Surekha: Hearing Postponed, Actor to Appear In Court; Report
Tollywood star Akkineni Nagarjuna's defamation case against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha has been postponed, with the actor set to appear in court to record his statement.

The defamation case filed by Tollywood star Akkineni Nagarjuna against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, originally set for Monday, has been postponed to Tuesday. Nagarjuna has been summoned to appear in court tomorrow to record his statement.

Nagarjuna initiated legal proceedings last Thursday following Surekha’s highly offensive and irresponsible remarks about his family, which triggered a wave of outrage across the Telugu film industry and beyond. Surekha, in an attempt to target her political opponent KTR, falsely linked him to the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, thereby tarnishing the reputation of the Akkineni family. The comments not only distressed the family but also upset their fans and the general public.

Although Surekha later retracted her remarks, the damage had already been done. Her derogatory and insensitive statements left a significant mark on the Telugu film industry, with major figures like Chiranjeevi, NTR, Prabhas, and Allu Arjun publicly condemning her actions.

In an interview with Times Now, Nagarjuna expressed the broader implications of the situation, stating, “The slander has gone far beyond just me and my family.” He emphasized the importance of his stance, explaining, “We in the entertainment industry won’t be soft targets anymore. It’s as simple as that.” He made it clear that public figures like celebrities shouldn’t be used for political leverage without facing consequences.

Despite Konda Surekha’s apology to Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Nagarjuna found it insufficient, as it failed to address the hurt caused to him and his family. He stood firm in his decision to pursue legal action, stating, “No, not at all. This is no longer personal.” The strong support from the Telugu film fraternity has reinforced his belief that this case is part of a larger effort to address the negative practices infiltrating the system.

Nagarjuna’s defamation case is intended to send a clear message to politicians, cautioning them against using celebrities’ names for political gains. He reiterated, “You cannot use our names for political gains,” and emphasized that the entertainment industry will no longer be “soft targets.” He hopes this legal action will serve as a warning to others in the political sphere, saying, “I am hoping that our legal action against the lady will caution other politicians from using our names in a slanderous way.”
