With the advent of OTT streaming, we have nearly everything at our disposal, when it comes to entertainment. Any genre we desire to watch is available is just a click away. One of the most popular among them being the psychological thriller, which plays with your mind; a great example of it is the film Barot House. Released in 2019, the film explores the experience of an upper-middle class family, embroiled in a case of several murders. The story follows a man named Amit Barot and his family, which resides in a neighbourhood of Daman. The family consists of Amit, his wife Bhavana Barot and their four children, three daughters and a son.
During the festival of Diwali, one of the daughters, Shreya goes missing and is later found dead in a graveyard. After some time, the second daughter is also found dead and police start suspecting Ajay, who is Amit’s younger brother. It is revealed that the real culprit behind the cruel murders is Malhar, Amit’s only son. How the Barot couple deal with such a situation makes the premise of the film, which is filled with unexpected twists and turns, keeping a viewer on the edge of their seats.
By the end of the film, Malhar is believed to have been a patient of schizophrenia and as someone who is too intelligent for his age. He never explains the reason behind the murders of his sisters, making the ordeal even more horrifying.
Barot House is made under the direction of Bugs Bhargava, while Sanjeev K Jha is credited as its writer. The cast of the film includes names like Amit Sadh, Manjari Fadnis, who play the Barot couple. While their kids are portrayed by Aaryan Menghji, Kiearra Soni and Kishaa Arora. It is produced by Jahanara Bhargava, Dhirajj Vinodd Kapoor, Seema Mohapatra and Hussain Shaikh under the banners of Dhiraj Walks Of Art, Faizee Productions and Ten Years Younger Productions. The film premiered on ZEE5, on August 7, 2019.
