The JEE Advanced 2021 was scheduled to be held on June 3, however, it was postponed due to COVID-19, however, when the exam was postponed, the new dates were not announced. This also means that the result for JEE Main will be announced much ahead of October to allow students time between two exams as well as time to apply for Advanced application.
Apart from IITs, JEE Advanced score is also used Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Rae Bareli, Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy, Visakhapatnam among others.
Last year, 20 per cent of seats were reserved for women, but from this year, the number of seats for women will be decided individually by each IIT. For this year, the quota will be decided to ensure that the enrolment of females in each IIT is at least 20 per cent in undergraduate programmes. The seats are reserved for women to ensure gender diversity in IITs which usually have more males as compared to females at undergraduate levels.
Apart from these, there is a 15 per cent reservation for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7.5 per cent for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates in every course. Persons with disabilities (PwD) also get 5 per cent of seats reserved at IITs. The institutes also have EWS quota and foreign quota.
