Watch free movies and TV shows with ads. Tubi has a reputation for being one of the best and safest free streaming platforms out there. Tubi is completely legal and doesn’t require you to subscribe or create an account (although you have the option to do so if you want to be able to curate your streaming experience). While it offers plenty of major studio movies and TV shows, it’s also a good place to discover new work by indie filmmakers. Because it’s totally funded by advertising, Tubi shows you approximately 2 minutes of ads for every 15 minutes of viewing. This might not be the best option if you’re annoyed by frequent ad breaks. Cineverse
Enjoy free films, TV shows, and podcasts on Cineverse. Cineverse is similar to Tubi, offering a wide variety of shows, movies, live TV broadcasts, and even podcasts for free (with ads). You can upgrade to a premium plan to go ad-free. Like Tubi, Cineverse is home to many indie films as well as major studio-produced movies and shows. You don’t have to sign up for an account to watch Cineverse, but doing so unlocks access to certain features, such as making customized playlists. Pluto TV
Access free live TV on Pluto TV. Pluto offers live broadcast TV, plus a selection of on-demand movies and shows. Much like Tubi, Pluto is completely funded by ads, which means you won’t get an uninterrupted viewing experience. One of the downsides of Pluto TV is that it doesn’t offer super high-quality streams. If you want high-resolution video, this isn’t the best option. You can watch Pluto TV online or install the app on your smart TV, mobile device, or computer.
Plex
Try Plex for a centralized streaming experience. Plex offers free TV shows, movies, and live TV. You can also rent movies on Plex. One thing that sets it apart from other free streaming services is that it also allows you to access movies from other platforms, like Netflix and Disney+. Plex is free to watch, but it has ads and doesn’t offer features like downloads or the ability to skip intros at the free level. You can upgrade to a subscription plan to access these features. The Roku Channel
Watch TV and movies for free on your Roku device. Fawesome
Check out older and indie content on Fawesome. Fawesome offers free TV shows and movies, and it even has a few exclusive offerings. You’re less likely to find the latest big-budget TV shows and movies here than on some of the other platforms. Some users complain that Fawesome has too many ads, and that the ads tend to be annoyingly loud. Reveel
Watch indie movies and shows ad-free on Reveel. If you’re looking for films and TV shows by independent creators that aren’t available elsewhere, Reveel is a great place to start. It’s totally free to watch (but yes, it does have ads). While Reveel is free, you must sign up for an account to watch. You can also upgrade to a subscription plan if you want to go ad-free. YouTube
Get free movies, TV, and more on the internet’s most popular video site. While YouTube might not be the first option you think of when looking for free TV and movies, it actually has a decent selection. A lot of broadcast TV stations have their own channels, too. YouTube also offers tons of series, podcasts, and more produced by independent creators. YouTube’s free movies and TV shows have ads, and the free selection is relatively limited. You can get access to more content (and lose the ads) by signing up for a premium account. Watch YouTube online, or get the app for your mobile device or smart TV.
Rakuten TV Free
Get free movies and shows on your smart TV if you’re in Europe or Japan. Rakuten TV Free offers free movies and shows with ads, but it’s currently not available in the US. However, you may be able to get around this issue by using a VPN. You can watch Rakuten TV without an account on compatible smart TVs and mobile devices, but you’ll need to sign in to watch it online. Find out if your device is compatible here. Kanopy
Get movies and shows for free from your library or university. Kanopy connects directly with your local public library’s collection, allowing you to check out and stream shows, movies, and documentaries. You can also access Kanopy content through your university login if you’re a student or faculty member. Since Kanopy partners with your library or university, it’s a totally ad-free experience! In order to use Kanopy, you must have a public library card or a student/faculty ID with a participating library or university. Hoopla
Stream movies and TV with your public library card. Similar to Kanopy, Hoopla partners with libraries to offer a wide variety of content. While you might already be using Hoopla to check out eBooks and audiobooks, you can also use it to watch movies and TV shows! And, like Kanopy, it’s ad-free. Unlike Kanopy, Hoopla mostly partners with public libraries and has only limited partnerships with universities. In most cases, you need a public library card to use Hoopla. Midnight Pulp
Try this if you’re a horror movie buff. Midnight Pulp is a spinoff of Cineverse. If you’re looking for classic horror, thrillers, and trashy B-movie fun, it’s a great place to start. While many of their offerings require a subscription, there are plenty of free movies, shows, and live broadcast channels to choose from. This isn’t the greatest option if you’re looking for a wide range of genres or trying to find the hottest new releases. Pirate Sites
Use these sites at your own risk if you can’t find what you want elsewhere. Some movies and TV shows are frustratingly hard to find through legitimate channels. If you can’t find what you’re looking for on any of the services listed above, you might be able to get it from a torrent or a pirate site. Just use these sites with caution–make sure you have good adware and malware blockers installed on your device, and consider using a VPN to protect your privacy. Yarrlist.com curates a regularly updated list of sites where you can stream or download movies and TV shows for free. This list includes several sites that are similar to the original Soap2day. Subreddits like r/piracy are also a good source of up-to-date information about where you can safely stream or download the content you want. Keep in mind that you can get in legal trouble if you’re caught downloading pirated movies or TV shows. Use a private browser like Tor or DuckDuckGo, in combination with a VPN, to keep yourself safe.
