Rajkummar Rao And Dulquer Salmaan's Guns & Gulaabs To Return For New Season

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s gripping series, Guns & Gulaabs, made waves with its intriguing narrative, dark humour and stellar performances. Now, Netflix has officially announced the return of this series with its much-anticipated second season. The streaming platform confirmed the sequel with a unique teaser, promising a comeback to the ’90s crime and chaos. Starring Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Adarsh Gourav and Gulshan Devaiah, the show is a perfect blend of mystery and humour. The follow-up season will finally answer the question, “What did Babu Tiger whisper in Gangaram’s ear?” While the release date wasn’t revealed, Raj & DK are ready to transport audiences back to the world of Gulaabganj.

Guns & Gulaabs explores the lives of Paana Tipu, a romantic mechanic played by Rajkummar, Chhota Ganchi, an heir to a dominant gang played by Adarsh, Dulquer as Arjun Verma, a simple officer turned chaotic agent and Gulshan as the lethal 4 cut Atmaram. Sharing the post, the streaming giant wrote, “Khali haath nahi, Guns & Gulaabs ka naya season leke aaye hain. Guns And Gulaabs Season 2 is coming only on Netflix.”

Earlier in an interview with Filmfare, Raj spoke about which movie influenced him to make the show, the director shared, “More than specific movies that influenced us to go back and do this, it was the charm of creating a story that deals with simplicity, innocence and a hopeful world where there were no smartphones. We had the freedom to make it larger than life and cinematic as compared to, say, The Family Man, which was very gritty and realistic.”

While DK added, “You can sense the innocence of most of the characters in the show. Inherently, the 1990s were a simpler time. It felt like it was the era the story should be set in. The start of it was the story, and everything else went from there, as opposed to us thinking, ‘Let’s make a retro film’.”

Apart from Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Gulshan Devaiah and Adarsh Gourav, the cast of Guns & Gulaabs includes, Sushil Kumar, Rajatava Dutta, TJ Bhanu, Satish Kaushik and Suhani Sethi.

Meanwhile, Guns & Gulaabs marks the fourth web series collaboration for Raj & DK, who previously became popular for their works on Amazon Prime Video’s The Family Man featuring Manoj Bajpayee, Unpaused and Shahid Kapoor starrer Farzi.
