Ranbir Kapoor’s latest release, Animal, has become the talk of the town. Despite receiving a mixed response, the movie has sparked excitement for its upcoming OTT release. Among all the cast members, Bobby Deol’s character as Abrar Haque has become fan favourite, even without any dialogues, the actor has captured major attention with his on-screen presence and dance moves in the viral Jamal Kudu song. While a sequel titled Animal Park, helmed by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Ranbir is in the works, the buzz surrounding spin-off focusing on Abrar’s character is getting maximum hype. Recent reports suggest that the filmmakers are exploring various concepts to expand the movie’s universe and a standalone project featuring Bobby’s character is among them.
As per Times Now reports, a reliable source close to the makers claim that the “Producers are working on various ideas to carry the Animal success forward. One of course is the sequel which will not happen before 2026. A more tenable and proximate possibility is the spinoff of the Bobby Deol character Abrar Haque which can accommodate a stand-alone movie, not necessarily directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy who it seems, will be busy with the sequel to Animal(which may or may not be titled Animal Park).”
Meanwhile, sharing his views about the possibility of spinoff and the overwhelming response for Animal, Bobby Deol says, “My character Abrar comes in late in Animal, towards the end. But the impact is unbelievable. Fans want a spinoff of my character. When it happens, I will be glad. Right now, I can’t believe what I am going through! Animal is bigger than anything we imagined. It is still not sinking in.”
Earlier, Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga discussed Bobby Deol’s character in Animal and shed light on why Abrar, despite belonging to the same family as Ranbir Kapoor’s character Ranvijay Singh, is portrayed as a Muslim while Ranvijay follows Sikhism. In an interview with Galatta Plus, Vanga highlighted his observation of people changing their religion after facing major life challenges. He mentioned that during low points in life, some individuals see it as a rebirth and transform their identity. Vanga shared that he chose Islam for Abrar’s character, because he has seen people converting to Islam and Christianity compared to Hinduism. He explained that this decision was made to add depth to the storyline, allowing for more complex family dynamics.
According to Sacnilk, Animal has earned Rs 882.40 Crore within 27 days at the global box office. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol, the film also features Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri in key roles.
