The actress, Nayanthara, is one of the most sought-after actresses in Tamil cinema. She has also acted in Telugu, Tamil as well as Malayalam films over the years and solidified her position as a lead actress in the South. Along with this, last year the actress also made her Bollywood debut with Jawan, alongside Shah Rukh Khan, which became highly commercially successful at the box office. Owing to her large-scale popularity and success, Nayanthara has earned the title of Lady Superstar of the South and is often referred to by her fans and the media. But the actress revealed earlier that the title is a big insult, creating a sensation in the cinema circle.
Malayalam actress Manju Warrier is also often referred to as Lady Superstar by Malayalam media. Now, the actress has also shared her dissatisfaction regarding this.
In a recent interview, the actress said, “Some people refer to me as a lady superstar. It causes unnecessary debate. It just brings me shame. I don’t want that title; only the love of my fans is enough,” said Manju Warrier.
Earlier, during an interview for the film, Annapoorani, Nayanthara talked about how uncomfortable she felt being called ‘Lady Superstar’. She requested the anchor of the interview not address her by that title after he had done so. Nayanthara humorously likened being called Lady Superstar to feeling like being scolded. Everyone in attendance at the interview laughed at her playful response. She graciously requested everyone to refrain from using this label.
On the professional front, Manju Warrier made her acting debut in the year 1995, Sakshyam. After this, the actress never looked back and worked on other notable films, including Thooval Kottaram (1996), Sallapam (1996), Ee Puzhayum Kadannu (1996) and Aaraam Thampuran (1997), to name a few.
She was last seen in the Malayalam-language political satire film Vellari Pattanam. The film was directed by Mahesh Vettiyar and produced by Full On Studios. The film stars Soubin Shahir, Salim Kumar, Manju Warrier and Shabareesh Varma.
Meanwhile, the actress is currently busy shooting for the upcoming film Footage. The film stars Manju Warrier in a prominent role, alongside Vishak Nair and Gayathri Ashok.
