In the wake of Baba Siddique’s tragic death, videos showcasing his longstanding friendship with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan from previous Iftar parties have taken social media by storm. Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was fatally shot in Bandra East, Mumbai. While the news of his passing sent shockwaves through the country, the resurfacing of old videos reminds fans of his deep connections within Bollywood.
Each year, Baba Siddique hosted lavish Iftar gatherings, where Bollywood’s elite gathered to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan. This year’s gathering in March saw Salman Khan attending, greeted by the paparazzi as he arrived with his bodyguard, Shera. In one touching moment captured on video, Siddique and Salman embraced near the entrance, exuding warmth and camaraderie. The sight of the two friends smiling together is now a bittersweet memory for many. Other celebrities who were in attendance were Huma Qureshi, Emraan Hashmi among others. Salman was dressed in a black and white sherwani for the occasion.
The 2023 Iftar party was no different, featuring notable attendees like Salim Khan, Salman Khan, Alvira and Arpita with their husbands Atul Agnihotri and Aayush Sharma and Sohail Khan, and many others. Videos of Salman in a stylish black pathani suit, laughing and posing with Baba Siddique and his son Zeeshan, have resurfaced online, evoking nostalgia and heartfelt condolences.
Salman Khan, who was reportedly very close to Siddique and his family, was deeply affected by the news of his passing. He abruptly cancelled his shoot for Bigg Boss 18 and rushed to Lilavati Hospital upon hearing the news. Siddique also played a crucial role in mending the long-standing rift between Salman and Shah Rukh Khan back in 2013.
