Darshan Requests For Home Cooked Food Amid Deteriorating Health In Prison

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is currently having a hard time in judicial custody at Bengaluru’s Central Prison. He has been arrested in relation to the Renukaswamy murder case. Darshan was arrested on June 11, and it has been more than a month since the actor was behind bars. Recently, it has been found that Darshan has urged the Karnataka High Court to request permission for home-cooked food, personal clothing, bedding, cutlery, and books. As per reports, the actor’s health has deteriorated in prison. The Renukaswamy murder case has been in the news for a while now. Many names have been involved in the case.

According to reports, Darshan has been behind bars since June 11. Recently, he has demanded home cooked food during his stay in jail. This is mainly because the Kannada actor claims that the prison food is causing severe health issues, including weight loss and diarrhoea, which have been diagnosed as food poisoning by prison doctors. As per Section 30 of the Karnataka Prisons Act, 1963, undertrial prisoners are entitled to receive proper food, clothing, and other necessities, subject to examination by prison authorities. His requests for the home-cooked food have been denied by the prison officers, who argued that they needed a court order.

Darshan has also filed a petition in which he states that he has been unfairly implicated in the case based on statements from co-accused individuals and is seeking legal assistance for his bail application.

Talking about the murder case, Renukaswamy was an auto driver and fan of Darshan, who was found dead near a stormwater drain in Bengaluru on June 9. He had allegedly sent obscene messages to Darshan’s co-star and friend, Pavithra Gowda, which reportedly enraged the actor. There has been news that Darshan and Pavithra have been allegedly dating each other for a while. The police investigation found that Renukaswamy died from shock and haemorrhage due to multiple blunt injuries.

After the murder case came into the limelight, Darshan was arrested. Pavithra Gowda was also identified as the main instigator and has also been accused in the case.
