Shani Jayanti 2024: Date, Auspicious Timings And Rituals
On the occasion of Shani Jayanti, devotees visit the Shani temple and perform the rituals and pujas.

Shani Dev is known as the God of Justice. According to Hindu mythology, the god is believed to be born on the new moon day (Amavasya) of the third month of the Hindu Calendar, Jyeshtha. On this auspicious day, bathing in the river and offering tarpan to the ancestors are believed to be sacred. It is believed that worshipping Shani Dev on this day helps the devotees to get relief from the sufferings of life.

In an interview, an astrologer from Tirupati, Krishna Kumar Bhargava shared more details about Shani Jayanti. According to the Hindu Calendar, the auspicious occasion of Shani Jayanti is set to be celebrated on June 6. The auspicious timings will start from 7:54 pm on June 5 and last till 6:07 pm on June 6. Devotees observe fast and worship Shani Dev on this day to get out of the suffering of life.

This year, the holy muhurat to hold the rituals of Shani Jayanti starts at 5:23 AM and will continue till 7:07 AM. The Char Muhurat is set to start from 10:36 AM and continue till 12:20 PM while the Labh Muhurat is from 12:20 PM to 2:04 PM. The Amrit Muhurat will fall from 2:04 PM and continue till 3:49 PM. Adding to it, the Abhijit Muhurat is from 11:52 AM to 12:48 PM while the Brahma Muhurat is set to start from 4:02 AM and continue till 4:42 AM.

On the occasion of Shani Jayanti, wake up early in the morning and complete your bathing routine. You can observe fasting to worship the Lord Shani. Visit the Shani temple and perform the rituals and pujas. You can offer black or blue clothes, flowers, black sesame seeds, mustard oil, season fruits, etc to perform the rituals of the puja. Light a diya in front of Lord Shani and start reciting Shani Chalisa. This practice is believed to be sacred among the Hindu community.

To worship Shani Dev, you can also recite the Shani Stotra that was composed by King Dasharatha. It is believed that reciting the Stotra makes the god happy and helps you to get out of your sufferings.
