HYDERABAD: Police nabbed an offender in connection with theft case of laptops from an Aadhaar card centre at Gowliguda and recovered 12 laptops worth Rs 3.50 lakh.Y Gangadhar, deputy commissioner of police (East Zone) said Afzalgunj police raided the Indain lodge in Nampally and arrested Pembarthi Mahendra, a native of Kamathipura, Mumbai who had stolen laptops from an Aadhaar centre at Gowliguda. Pembarthi Mahendra is a native of Mumbai and has studied upto Intermediate. After completion of Intermediate, he joined in an interior decoration course in July, 2010 at LS Raheja Interior Decoration and Architecture College in Mumbai. However, after joining college, he didn't attend classes regularly and spent time roaming the city, smoking cigarettes, watching movies, playing cricket, according to police. When his father inquired about his regular attendance, Mahendra became afraid and ran away from his house to Hyderabad. He worked as a private employee at Dilsukhnagar for four months. Later, he left the job and spent all the money on his bad habits."In June this year, he got the job of a data-entry operator at Gowliguda Community hall for one day. He then noticed the Aadhaar centre kept some laptops in a box beside the window with no security guard protecting the property. Mahendra planned to steal the laptops and other equipment and sell them. He allegedly stole 12 laptops by entering the community hall by cutting the window grills on June 5 and July 15," the DCP said. On a tip-off, police arrested him from the hotel in Nampally, where he has been living temporarily. Police registered a case against him under sections 379 (punishment for theft), 457 (trespass) and 380 (Theft in dwelling house) of IPC.
