KOZHIKODE: Sticking to his earlier stand that counter revolution is possible in China, CPM Politburo member Sitaram Yechury has stated that if there is a revolution, there is possibility for people subverting the revolution. Asked whether any delegate has raised the issue of possible counter revolution in China during the discussions at the party congress, Yechury said at the media briefing that China, despite having problems, still continues to be the second largest economy in the world.“There are problems concerning people’s lives.They would be resolved it in the future,” he said.A report on the amendments to the constitution received from party members has been placed in the Congress. In the discussion held on the Draft resolution on some ideological issues presented by Politburo member Sitaram Yechury on Friday, 27 delegates spoke till the lunch break. Yechury will reply to the discussion on Sunday morning.Yechury said there had been some proposals from certain delegates to fix the age limit of the members of the central committee and Politburo as 80 years.“Party congress is the highest forum where we discuss all such matters. Every delegate has the right to make such proposals,” he said.Asked whether the Politburo had a responsibility over the electoral rout in West Bengal and defeat in Kerala, he said, being a Politburo member, he was also responsible for the fiasco. But he said according to Leninist principle, it was the collective functioning and individual responsibility.Citing Special situation as the reason for the drop in the enrolment of members, Yechury said the party was in a dilemma over the drop in the enrolment of youngsters as party members.Though there has been an increase in the membership since 2005, a drop of 10 and 8 percent in membership rate was noticed in the year 2010 and 2011 respectively. He said following severe attack from Trinamool Congress, youngsters are reluctant to enroll as members in West Bengal.Asked whether VS would be re-inducted into the PB, he said he was not an astrologer to predict it. On CPM not opposing Koodankulam Plant, he said CPM was opposing imported nuclear reactors and not the domestic ones.”Koodamkulam is an existing plant, producing power and entirely domestic,” he said. CPM politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai presented the political-organisational report on Saturday and the discussion on the report will be held on Sunday.The presentation of constitutional amendment proposal, which was supposed to be held on Saturday, has been postponed to Sunday.
