SABARIMALA: Additional Chief Secretary and chairman of the Sabarimala High-Powered Committee on Infrastructure Development K Jayakumar said that the Rs 90-crore projects would be implemented immediately after the on-going pilgrimage season in February 2012. Addressing newsmen at the Devaswom Guest House here on Thursday, Jayakumar said that the projects include Rs 27-croretwo-storeyed Valiya Nadapandal, Rs 20-crore Nilackal Pilgrim Transit Camp, new prasadam complex at a cost of Rs 15 crore, Rs 12-crore Pampa-Sannidhanam ropeway, Sannidhanam sewage treatment plant and Kunnar water storage dam augmentation project. The work on Sannidhanam Valiya Nadapandal project, to be implemented by engineering giant Larsen and Toubro, would begin in February. When completed, the new nadapandal can accommodate 40,000 pilgrims at a time. FUND MOBILISATION DRIVE: The Infrastructure Development Fund Trust would hold a meeting in Hyderabad on December 8 and in Chennai in the second week of December.The fund mobilisation drive would be held in West Asian countries such as Qatar, Oman and the UAE and in Malaysia, Jayakumar said.ADDITIONAL POLICE PERSONNEL: The government would deploy 2,000 civil police officers at Sabarimala during the peak season days, Jayakumar said.
