HYDERABAD: Violent protests by TRS activists and heavy rain played spoilsport with the second meeting of the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum’s (TTDF) meeting - Ranabheri- in Tandur in Rangareddy district on Friday. Owing to the threats issued by the TRS and heavy rain in Tandur, the attendance at the meeting was very low. Despite protests by TRS activists, the TDP leaders addressed the meeting braving the downpour and vowed to achieve separate Telangana state. A large number of TDP Telangana leaders who started from the NTR Bhavan in a huge convoy were attacked at Vikarabad on their way to Tandur. TRS activists sporting party kanduvas threw eggs and pelted stones at the TDP leaders’ vehicles. Some activists even climbed the vehicles of TDP leaders. But, they were forcibly taken away by the police.TDP activists too retaliated and attacked the TRS workers. As the situation was slipping out of control, police caned TRS workers and arrested them. The TDP convoy was attacked once again near Tandur.TTDF convenor E Dayakar Rao, Nama Nageswara Rao, T Devender Goud, K Srihari and others spoke.The meeting urged all the parties to keep aside their party flags and join an apolitical movement for Telangana. The meeting demanded the Centre to introduce a Bill in the Parliament in favour of Telangana. It also urged the Centre to make public the 8th chapter of the Srikrishna Committee report. Expressing concern over the plight of the farmers in the Telangana, the meeting wanted the government to bail out the farmers, especially cotton farmers.
