TRIPUNITHURA: In the wake of new entry of a special tribal group from the forests of Madhya Pradesh as new avatars of dacoits, the Tripunithura Police have decided to intensify night patrolling in the area. Since the first attempt made by the group in Tripuunithura was foiled by the police, with the assistance of locals and City Action force, the police are now tracing the previous activities of the group."It is learned that the group chased by the police in the wee hours of Thursday was from a remote village near Bhopal and are relatives," said Lijo, Hill Palace Sub-Inspector. "It is just be cause of the extraordinary courage shown by four cops engaged in night patrolling we could trace at least three of the gang," he said. Even after realising the strength of the dacoits, Biju and Shanivas chased them and caught two of them, Liju said. Later, Ravindran and Dinesh joined them to conquer the three members of the group.With the special assistance of a translator, the police are now trying to trace the whereabouts of the other members of the group from the three persons in custody. “They have a well-planned plot about each operation and prefer houses close to railway tracks," he said. "After getting details from the three arrested members, we expect a major breakthrough," he said. The campaign conducted a few months ago by the Janamaithri Police could create awareness among residents to handle tough situations like the recent one. Now the police were also planning to seek the support of members of City Action Force for night patrolling.
