Hyderabad: Concerned over a section of partymen and ministers not conducting themselves in an austere manner, Sonia has written to CMs of all Congress-ruled states to follow the Code of Austerity and Ethics.
In response to the letter, Andhra Pradesh has decided to prepare a report on such measures.
Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said his government had asked the city-based Center for Good Governance (CGG), to prepare a comprehensive report on various measures to be adopted with reference to the Code of Austerity and Ethics.
Reddy said the state government has already initiated measures in light of the code.
These include the control of non-essential administrative expenditure, curbing foreign tours and travels, fixing of ceiling and limitations on the phone and communication facilities at various levels and utilisation of IT services.
The code lists out 18 do's and don'ts' for partymen as also chief ministers and their Cabinet colleagues.
However, what?s more important than the Sonia's code itself is the need for it to be taken seriously by the party members.
