New Delhi: Three Chinese journalists, working out of India for the Chinese news Agency, Xinhua have been told to leave India after the government decided not to renew their visas.
Journalists Wu Qiang and Lu Tang, heads of Xinhua bureaus in New Delhi and Mumbai respectively and She Yonggang, a reporter based in Mumbai have been asked to leave India by 31st of July.
Although, no specific reason was cited behind the government’s move, these journalists had come under sharp scrutiny after they caught the attention of security agencies for having indulged in activities beyond journalistic brief.
While Wu was working in India since the last seven years, the other two were posted in Mumbai last year.
This decision by Indian government could worsen the relations between the two countries after China refused to back India in its bid to become a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group last month.
