BANGALORE: A 26-year-old software engineer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his car parked near a garden at ‘D’ Block of the II Main in AECS Layout in Mahadevapura police station limits on Tuesday morning. Police suspect that he might have ended his life due to love failure. The deceased, S Sreerag, a native of Kozhikode, was living with his friend Vivek, also a native of Kerala and a software engineer, in a rented house in the area. He was working at HP’s Whitefield office for the past eight months. Earlier he was with IBM for three years. According to the police, some passers-by noticed a body inside Volkswagen Polo car (KA-53-Z-6185) and informed the police. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was Sreerag. His legs were tied using a cello tape and he had consumed sleeping pills. A cloth was stuffed in his mouth before gagging it with the tape and covering the face with a plastic cover. His body was in a sitting position wearing seatbelt in the rear seat.“Investigations revealed that he was in love with a girl from January. They were in constant touch through online chatting, but had never met. However, the girl’s parents had finalised her wedding with a man in the UK. This had upset him and also the online conversations indicate the same. Also, his mother’s health condition was a cause for worry to him and his brother-in-law’s death recently had depressed him. Therefore, we are strongly suspecting that this is a clear case of suicide. Further, the scene is undisturbed and circumstantial evidences make it clear that no other person is involved in the incident,” the police explained.“On Monday night, he had gone to his aunt’s house for dinner on a bike and returned to his house. According to his friend Vivek’s statement, he was watching TV till 1.30 am. It is suspected that Sreerag left home after Vivek slept,” the police added. Mahadevapura police have registered a murder case as it appeared to be a murder. They will register an unnatural death case based on post mortem reports.
