HYDERABAD: The state government is making elaborate arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations of Ramzan and Ganesh festivals next week.The police have been asked to take all measures to maintain law and order in the state, particularly in Hyderabad, in case both the festivals fall on the same day.While Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 1, Ramzan is likely to be celebrated on August 31 or September 1.Police have been asked to take necessary precautions to ensure that there are no communal clashes.Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, municipal administration and urban development minister M Maheedhar Reddy said that officials have been making arrangements to provide water and power supply and repair works for roads in coordination with Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee.He said that police have been collecting details of pandals in Hyderabad to prevent any eventualities during celebrations.The devotees have been asked to cooperate with the police.The minister said that Pollution Control Board has launched a campaign to create awareness among the public on need for ecofriendly Ganesh idols.Labour minister D Nagender, mayor B Karthika Reddy, chief secretary S V Prasad and DGP V Dinesh Reddy also attended the meeting.
