An elderly man was shot dead and another got injured in a clash between two political groups in Bharsi village in Shamli district here, police said today.
"Virender (60) was shot dead, while Brijender has received bullet injuries on Thursday after a clash broke out between supporters of two groups over some old enmity that started during a panchayat election," said police.
Tension has gripped the village since the incident and extra police force has been deployed in the area, police added.
In another case, a 25-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified men at Rehakra village in the district, police said on Friday.
Jogender (25), a labourer, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants at Rehakra village in the district on Thursday, police said. No arrest has been made so far and the case is being investigated, they added.
