THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has decided to make changes in the teachers’ bank announced as part of therehabilitation package for teachers. One of the crucial changes in the proposed teachers’ bank is to form separate teachers’ bank in each sub-district in place of the centralised teachers’ bank at the state level.  The bank was part of the efforts of the government to rehabilitate teachers who lost their jobs following the fall in the number of students.  The decision regarding these changes were taken during separate meetings, the Cabinet sub-committee appointed for implementing the rehabilitation package for teachers, had with the representatives of the teachers unions and therepresentatives of the aided school managements on Wednesday.  The revised rehabilitation package including these changes will be presented before the next Cabinet, Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb told reporters after the meetings.   As per the consensus reached with the managements, the managements can fill all further vacancies arising in schools on their own after appointing one teacher from the teachers’ bank.  The government is also learnt to have gone back in the demand that the managements should get the prior sanction for making new appointments. As per the new formula, the managements can make appointments after informing the government on the new vacancy.   In case, there is no reply from the government within 48 hours, the management can go ahead with the appointment.  The State Government is also learnt to have approved the demand of the managements on giving approval to appointments made this year. The State Government had not approved the appointments earlier for various reasons.
