KOCHI: The Ramu Karyat Film Awards for the year 2011 were declared here on Wednesday. ‘Urumi’, directed by Santhosh Sivan, was elected the best film, while ‘Chappa Kurisu’ directed by Sameer Thahir bagged the second best film award. Prithviraj is the best actor for his performances in ‘Urumi’ and ‘Indian Rupee’. Kavya Madhavan won the best actress award for her performance in ‘Khaddama’. The award ceremony is being held in connection with Natika Beach festival,which will be held from February 5 to 12. The awards will be distributed on February 12. Director Siddique, (chairman of the Ramu Karyat award jury), Geetha Gopi MLA (chairman of Nattika Beach Festival), Anil Pulikkal and C M Noushad also spoke.
